Meeting with Archbishop Nelson Perez

I had the honor of meeting with Archbishop Nelson Perez to discuss the many parishes that serve families across the district. Our conversation focused on the important role these parishes play in strengthening our communities and how my office can continue to support their work. I am grateful for the archbishop’s leadership and look forward to working together to ensure our communities have the resources they need to serve and grow.

Celebrating Caring for Friends

Caring for Friends continues to make an incredible impact by supporting neighbors in need, providing meals and essentials assistance to seniors, veterans, and families across our community. It was a pleasure to stop by their Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast and see the compassion and commitment that drives their mission forward.

I was proud to present a citation to Gift of Giving and Tom Kutchner as Organization of the Year, and to recognize St. Katherine of Siena and the Durrant family for their dedication to serving others. Their efforts, along with the many volunteers who give their time so generously, truly embody the spirit of community.

Thank you for everything you do!

Visiting St. Hubert for their Women in Technology Conference

I was proud to visit St. Hubert for their Women in Technology Conference, where students are getting a firsthand look at the many opportunities available in today’s growing tech field. Right here in the Northeast, these young women are exploring emerging technologies to potential career paths, gaining valuable experience and confidence.

Events like these are so important in opening doors, encouraging curiosity, and showing students that there is a space for them in every industry. I am grateful to Dr. Pando for the invitation, and for her continued partnership and leadership in creating opportunities like these for students in the community.

Strengthening Electricity Affordability and Reliability

Pennsylvanians need electricity that’s affordable and reliable. That’s why I joined legislative colleagues in February urging action to preserve critical baseload power generation by preventing the premature shutdown of two commonwealth power plants.

I’m pleased to report the Trump administration has reached agreement with the state Department of Environmental Protection and the operator of the Keystone and Conemaugh Generating Stations in Indiana and Armstrong counties to allow continued operation of both plants.

The agreement ensures continued, environmentally compliant generation of 3,400 megawatts of electricity for the regional grid and preserves the livelihood of more than 1,000 workers. I applaud the parties for working to find common ground, and will continue working to expand Pennsylvania energy production to provide our residents with a true “all of the above” energy strategy to ensure affordable, reliable electricity.

Take the PA Family Health Needs Assessment Survey

You can provide feedback to help improve maternal, child and family health in Pennsylvania by completing the Family Health Needs Assessment Survey by April 30. You can find the survey here.

It’s part of the federal Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant, managed in Pennsylvania by the Department of Health. It requires a comprehensive needs assessment every five years to identify key health priorities.

The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete. If you have any questions, please email RA-DHPATITLEV@pa.gov.
