In this Update:
Update on SEPTAAs the only Republican Senator in Philadelphia, representing the Northeast is a responsibility I take seriously. As I have stated before, my focus remains on ensuring a safe, reliable SEPTA service that promotes transparency and accountability. My colleagues and I have been working around the clock. I started this week meeting with SEPTA’s General Manager to identify solutions that will restore our bus services as quickly as possible. I am encouraged to see that Governor Shapiro, along with House Majority Leader Matt Bradford, recently recognized the importance of using part of the Public Transportation Trust Fund. This aligns with my stance on House Bill 257. I know how important public transit is for our community—Reliable public transit connects people to jobs, appointments, school, and their overall daily lives. I am honored to represent you in Harrisburg, and I will do everything I can to ensure we have secure public transit for Philadelphia. I will continue to work on making SEPTA safe, reliable, and accountable, while finding a long-term solution. To read more about my stance on the transit crisis, please read my Op-Ed titled “We Want to Fund SEPTA – The Question Is How”: Update on SEPTA – Senator Picozzi To see the latest update from me, watch: https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/politics/pennsylvania-septa-funding-lawmakers-harrisburg-philadelphia/4260548/ To read about Representative Matt Bradford’s remarks, read here: https://www.inquirer.com/politics/pennsylvania/matt-bradford-public-transportation-trust-fund-20250827.html CCP Scholarship Check PresentationI had the honor of presenting a check to the Community College of Philadelphia through the state’s Solar for School grants. The initiative was created to address both the school funding crisis and climate change simultaneously. With strong bipartisan support, its initiatives like this that benefit our students and their futures. This investment is a win for Northeast Philadelphia, and I will continue working across the aisle to promote programs that strengthen our schools and support our community. 2026-27 PA Student Aid Guide AvailableFor parents and students planning for college, the new Student Aid Guide from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) provides a complete overview of the financial aid process. The guide can help you:

Visit to the Amazon DDP9 WarehouseThis past week, I had the opportunity to visit Amazon’s last-mile logistics facility in my district, a 24/7 delivery station and final sorting center before packages are dispatched to customers’ doorsteps. Employees were able to walk me through their daily operations and how new technologies are streamlining their processes. They were also able to give me a look inside of their new Amazon trucks, designed with upgraded safety and comfort features for drivers. It was great to hear the personal stories from team members about where they started and found opportunities for growth within the company. I was able to see firsthand the dedication of those in our community taking pride in their work. Facilities like this support families and strengthen our economy here in the Northeast. I am grateful to the Amazon team for giving me a closer look at the work they do every day. SEIU Homecare MeetingI recently had the pleasure of hosting members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) at my office for a conversation about some of the current challenges faced by home healthcare workers. These dedicated professionals provide essential care that allows our aging neighbors with health challenges to remain in their homes for as long as they possibly can, thereby maintaining their independence, dignity, and quality of life. They fill a critical space in our healthcare system, offering compassionate, personalized support that would otherwise go largely unmet. Pennsylvania’s School Bus Stopping LawStudents are heading back to class, so we all need to be on the lookout for children around school buses and bus stops. Some reminders about Pennsylvania’s School Bus Stopping Law:
School districts are permitted to install automated camera systems on buses to enforce the law. You can find more information about the law and penalties, and safety tips for children, here. EITC MeetingRecently, I had the privilege to meet with members of the Business Leadership for Catholic Schools (BLOCs), Maternity BVM, and other community partners for a conversation on how we can best support our students. As the largest scholarship organization in Pennsylvania, BLOCs provide vital tuition assistance and expand opportunities for children regardless of their background. As a graduate of the parochial school system, I see this program as an investment for our students’ futures, and I look forward to seeing its continued growth. Happy Labor DayLabor Day is a time to celebrate the workers who make our communities thrive while providing for their families. No matter what your vocation or whether you’re an active employee or a retiree, I hope you enter this last stretch of summer with a wonderful holiday weekend.
