In this Update:
Presenting a Check to Jeanes Hospital! This week, I had the honor of presenting a check alongside Rep. Sean Doughtery for $625,000 to Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus to support critical infrastructure upgrades. Hospitals like Jeanes are more than just buildings where people receive care – they are pillars of our community. Families in Northeast Philadelphia rely on this hospital during some of the most important and vulnerable moments of their lives. The funds presented ensure this facility has the infrastructure it needs to continue delivering high-quality care for years to come. Investments like this don’t just improve a building – they improve patient experiences, support healthcare workers, and reinforce access to care close to home. To the doctors, nurses, staff, and leadership here at Jeanes – thank you for your dedication and keeping our neighborhoods healthy and safe. I am grateful to play a role in supporting your work and I look forward to seeing the impact this investment will have for years to come. Speaking at the Urban-Rural Leadership ProgramI was proud to speak at the Penn State Extension Urban-Rural Leadership Program and spend time with the RULE Scholars who are preparing to lead in communities across the Commonwealth. It was a great opportunity to answer thoughtful questions, share some of my experiences in the State Senate, and talk about the importance of building strong connections between urban and rural Pennsylvania. Visiting Maternity BVMIt was a great start to the week visiting the students, teachers and faculty at Maternity BVM! I had the chance to introduce myself to several classes and answer questions about my role as a state senator. I especially enjoyed reading to the kindergarteners and talking about Presidents’ Day – sharing a little bit of history and encouraging our youngest learners to stay curious about how our government works. Thank you to the students and faculty of Maternity BVM for having me! Flag Raising at the Albanian American AssociationI was honored to attend the flag raising to commemorate the 18th anniversary of independence or the Republic of Kosovo! It was great evening celebrating freedom, resilience, and strong cultural ties here in our community. Events like these are a reminder of the traditions that make Northeast Philadelphia so special. I am grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside members of our community celebrating this milestone! Preventing Food Allergies and Cutting Costs for Taxpayers

Approximately 1.3 million Pennsylvanians are afflicted with a food allergy. One expert testified the rate of children with a food allergy has grown by 50% over the past 20 years, with rates of peanut and tree nut allergies rising by 300%. The average cost of a child with a peanut allergy is more than $7,200 per year. Among the topics discussed was legislation that would require no-cost health insurance coverage for early peanut and egg introduction dietary supplements for infants.
