PICOZZI, WHITE SECURE NEARLY $2 MILLION FOR NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA ORGANIZATIONS

State Assistance for Local Projects

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Senator Joe Picozzi (R-5) and Representative Martina White (HD-170) announced nearly $2 million in Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) grant funding for two organizations serving Northeast Philadelphia.

The awards include:

  • Caring for Friends – $1 million: Funding will support the expansion of the organization’s Cold Storage Facility Project, helping Caring for Friends store and distribute more fresh food to those in need.
  • SPIN (Special People In the Northeast) – $917,450: Funding will support the purchase and installation of generators to ensure services can continue during outages and emergencies.

“Caring for Friends and SPIN are two organizations that the Northeast is lucky to have,” Senator Picozzi said. “They do so much for our neighbors, and this funding will help them continue that work and serve even more people. This is exactly where these dollars should be going – right back into our community”.

The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the Statewide LSA program, which uses gaming revenue to support community projects across Pennsylvania.

“The grants awarded today empower our community to take meaningful steps forward,” Representative White said. “These investments reflect our commitment to supporting trusted organizations that lift up neighbors in need. I appreciated the opportunity to advocate for this important funding”.
