PHILADELPHIA, PA – Senator Picozzi (R-5) announced the approval of $4,828,154 in additional Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) grants for projects across Northeast Philadelphia.
“Bringing resources back home to Northeast Philadelphia is one of the most important parts of my job” Senator Picozzi said. “These funds are going towards projects our neighbors will actually see and benefit from – safer streets, stronger schools, improvement to community spaces and resources for organizations doing important work every day”.
Senator Picozzi worked alongside House and Senate colleagues for several of the projects receiving funding and thanked them for their partnership in helping move these projects forward.
“I am grateful to my colleagues who worked with me on these grants,” Senator Picozzi said. “Getting these projects funded takes a lot of time and collaboration, and I’m glad we were able to get this done”.
The grants have been awarded to:
- Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Mammography: Senator Picozzi and Representative Sean Doughtery secured $812,240 for new mammography equipment and expanding access to imaging services.
- Hubert Catholic High School Perimeter Improvements: Senator Picozzi and Representative Pat Gallagher secured $187,760 for perimeter and security improvements.
- WHYY Facility Improvements: Senator Picozzi alongside Senators Tina Tartaglione, Nikil Saval, Shariff Street, Art Haywood, Vincent Hughes, and Anthony Williams, secured $150,000 for upgrades to their emergency warning system and related infrastructure.
- Tacony Boat Launch: Senator Picozzi and Representative Pat Gallagher secured $500,000 to expand recreational access to the Delaware River waterfront.
- Advancing Accessibility Through ADA Ramp Construction: Senator Picozzi alongside Representative Ed Neilson and Sean Dougherty secured $968,273 for construction of ADA curb ramps at 10 intersections along Convent Avenue, along with water infrastructure and drainage improvements.
- Philadelphia Northeast Airport – Runway 15-33, Package 2: Senator Picozzi and Representative Regina Young secured $1,000,000 to rehabilitate Runway 15-33 including runway and taxiway work, pavement markings, draining and lighting improvements.
- Mobile Estates Services Van: Senator Picozzi alongside Senators Tina Tartaglione, Nikil Saval, Shariff Street, Art Haywood, Vincent Hughes, and Anthony Williams, secured $98,767 for the purchase and outfitting of a mobile van to bring Register of Wills and Clerk of Courts services directly into Philadelphia communities.
- A.T.H.: Senator Picozzi and Representative Sean Dougherty secured $300,000 for their Community Inclusion Transportation Initiative.
- Glen Foerd: Senator Picozzi alongside Representative Pat Gallagher secured $398,479 for renovations to modernize the historic Carriage Housing, including utility upgrades that will support expanded public access and educational use.
- JEVS Orleans Technical College: Senator Picozzi and Representative Ed Neilson secured $362,089 for phase 2 security system and IT upgrades, as well as improvement to network speed, security and reliability throughout the campus.
- The Career Wardrobe: Senator Picozzi alongside Senators Pennycuick, Nikil Saval, Art Haywood, Vincent Hughes, Shariff Street, Anthony Williams, Maria Collett, Amanda Cappelletti, John Kane, Tim Kearney, Carolyn Comitta, and Katie Muth secured $50,546 for their regional clothing distribution van project.
The Statewide Local Share Account program is administered through the Commonwealth Financing Authority and uses gaming revenue to support community and infrastructure projects across Pennsylvania.
